Celebrant

Welcome to the world, little one!

Welcoming a new baby or expanding your family is one of life’s major milestones! So it’s not surprising that families often want to celebrate the special occasion. However, if you are not religious, the options may feel a very limited.

Maybe you have recently adopted and want to honour the new addition to your family. Or perhaps you are about to welcome your partner’s children into your life and become a blended family.

If you are looking for a truly special way to mark this wonderful chapter of your life, then you need look no further. A celebrant led ceremony is the perfect way to officially welcome your new arrival or celebrate the family you have become as well as recognise your role as parents.

It is also a great opportunity to thank those closest to you who have given their support and love and pay tribute to them. Perhaps you want to invite specific people to become Guardians, Mentors or Guide Parents to your children or offer them your own parental promises.

Growing up I had my very own ‘Fairy Godmother’ - who has continued to be an important and ‘magical’ figure in my life to this very day.

“What’s in a name?”

I must admit, as a child I was not too keen on my unusual name and longed to be called something ‘normal’. However, as I became an adult and learnt more about the meaning behind my name and the reasons why my parents chose it - I grew to LOVE it! And now, I couldn’t be anything other than India Bel.

So much though and meaning go into selecting names for our children. Whether you are honouring a much loved family member or inspired by a deeper meaning or affiliation or something entirely different - the name you give your child has a great affect on their life.

A Naming Ceremony is a wonderful way to officially introduce your child to the world in a totally personalised and unique way. The ceremony can be whatever you want it to be and can take place anywhere you like. The ceremony can include readings, music, symbolic actions and a whole lot of fun!

My job is to help you work out how you’d like to celebrate and to guide you through the process so you end up with a beautiful bespoke ceremony that is totally personal to your family, your beliefs and your approach to life as a parent and with your child.

 How does it work?

  1. Let’s chat!

Why not book in a no-obligation chat with me so we can talk about what you are looking for and I can answer any questions you may have about celebrant led ceremonies.

  2. You want me to be your celebrant?! YAY!

Amazing! Once you have decided I am the celebrant for you, then I will send over a booking form along with a contract and take a deposit to secure your booking.

  3. Here’s where the fun starts…let’s get planning!

A couple of months before your date, we can either meet or book a call to plan the ceremony. I can offer lots of guidance on ceremony content and format. I can also suggest meaningful ways to include family members or special individuals such as Guardians, Mentors or Guide Parents and we can discuss whether you would like to include specially written promises as parents. The most important thing is that I get to know you as a family so I can create a beautiful and meaningful ceremony that reflects your beliefs and values.

  4. Once upon a time…

Once I have gathered all the information and ideas I need, I can get to work writing the perfect ceremony for you and your family. I can share as many versions of the ceremony script with you as you like - so if there is something you would like to tweak or re-work then that is absolutely fine - I want you to be 100% happy.

  5. Time to celebrate!

On the day of the ceremony, I’ll arrive at least an hour beforehand so I can meet and speak to anyone involved in the ceremony and ensure everything is set up and ready to go. We all know how unpredictable children can be, so I will can absolutely be flexible with timings on the day - I want the day to be as stress-free and joyous as possible for everyone involved.

  6. Making memories

As a special keepsake, I will send you a printed copy of the full ceremony script so you can treasure the words as well as the memories of this special occasion forever.
